Here are two short videos illustrating a potential way for the ‘Womb’ doghouse to fold into itself. I am also experimenting with Photoshop and Sketchup to make a stop motion movie in this case. Still haven’t decided if this will inflate. Thats the next step….

As discussed during the desk crit, this model will be available in different sizes to accomodate several types of dogs.

Is it outdoor? Is it indoor? The ‘Womb’ is designed to suit the needs of both single-family home owners and apartment occupants in an ever increasing dense urban setting.

As we now move the design forward toward a single concept, I am pursuing the idea of a “womb” as a means to house a dog. That is, the shell of the structure consists of mostly water which functions as a thermal barrier as well as to sustain the occupant (in this case a dog).  The use of water as a thermal insulator is reminiscent of the placenta within which the developing fetus lives and feeds.
